The largest mass transit system in the country was swamped by flash flooding as water pored into New York City's subway system and Grand Central Terminal causing a travel nightmare for commuters Thursday.

New York City subway riders climbed a fence to avoid floodwaters that had poured into the 7th Avenue station in Brooklyn after torrential rain Thursday.

So while crimes do occur on the subway, and the pandemic led to significant increases, it's disingenuous to claim the subway is more dangerous than ever.
