In Game 2 of the 2000 World Series, New York Yankees starting pitcher Roger Clemens threw a shard of a broken bat in the direction of New York Mets catcher Mike Piazza, who had just broken his lumber while trying to fight off an inside pitch that dribbled foul.

Roger Clemens came back to Yankee Stadium on Saturday, and so did the questions about his bat-throwing incident with Mike Piazza in the World Series 25 years earlier. Piazza was batting against Clemens in the first inning of Game 2 of the 2000 World Series when his bat shattered along the first-base line.

On Saturday afternoon, at Yankees Old-Timers’ Day, Clemens and the world were reminded of one of his most infamous incidents, that being his broken bat toss at Mets’ catcher Mike Piazza during Game Two of the 2000 World Series. Of course, Clemens also spoke at length about that incident earlier in the week at David Cone’s charity golf outing.
