CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Ohio’s annual sales tax holiday is expanded to a full two weeks this year and runs through Aug. 14. The annual event allows families to buy school supplies, clothes and almost all tangible personal property priced at $500 or less to be purchased without paying 5.75 percent state sales tax, plus the local sales tax.

The 2025 holiday will run for two full weeks, beginning at midnight on Friday, August 1, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 14.

In 2024, Ohio offered a 10-day tax holiday, but this year includes a full two weeks. As per the Department of Taxation, the expansion reflects the state’s commitment to supporting working households and encouraging local spending without adding tax burdens.
