A man has disappeared in floodwater, people were ordered to evacuate homes as part of the Australian east coast was lashed by wind and rain ahead of its first tropical cyclone in 51 years.

Tropical Cyclone Alfred dumped heavy rain on Australia, causing floods and widespread disruption. Footage shows flooded streets in Anzac Drive in Kyogle, New South Wales, where rising waters submerged road signs on March 8.

A violent tropical storm has devastated parts of Australia and caused severe flooding. While the storm is weakening, the affected regions are still struggling with massive damage, power outages and evacuations.
