For the first time in over three weeks, North Texas is expected to get rain. And not just showers. The possibility of severe threats are strongest in the afternoon, as showers move from west to east across the region.
A cold front will move through North Texas on Saturday, bringing a few thunderstorms ahead of it, mainly in the afternoon. The window for anything strong will be between noon and 4. The risk of severe weather is very low, but slightly higher east of the metroplex.

John Nielsen-Gammon, Texas’ state climatologist, said the arrival of those crisper overnight lows is usually a good indicator of fall’s arrival. Historically, the average arrival of that benchmark is Sept. 21, close to the autumnal equinox.
