Law and order, the cost of living and roads have been front of mind for voters who have cast their ballots in the seats of Prahran and Werribee today, posing a major test for the Victorian Labor government.

Vote counting started in the high-stakes state legislature election in India’s federal territory, including New Delhi, with TV exit polls predicting a win for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling Hindu nationalist party.

The more than 4,400 polling places designated for the general elections this Sunday in Ecuador closed at 5:00 PM local time (10:00 PM GMT), and immediately afterward the vote counting began, a tally that initially will not have conclusive results until late at night.
