Kentucky signees Maddyn Greenway, Emily McDonald and Savvy Swords will play in McDonald's All-American Game 2026.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Three University of Kentucky women’s basketball incoming freshmen have been named 2026 McDonald’s All-Americans. Maddyn Greenway, Emily McDonald and Savvy Swords were among 24 high school players chosen for the honor. Kentucky and Texas are the only programs with three signees selected to the list.
OU women’s basketball is enduring its first losing streak of the season. The No. 5 Sooners fell to No. 6 Kentucky, 63-57, Sunday at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky. It was the Wildcats’ highest-ranked home win since 2017.
Kentucky is coming off back-to-back road losses at Mississippi State, 71-59, last Sunday and at No. 17/17 Tennessee, 60-58, on Thursday. Those losses and also its recent loss at RV/ No. 24 Alabama, 64-51, on Jan. 8 were without starting forward Teonni Key, who suffered an arm injury against Missouri in the second league game of the season.
After trailing 44-41 late in the third quarter, the Wildcats erupted to score 52 points over the game’s final 14 minutes.
Since arriving in 2023, West Virginia head coach Mark Kellogg has turned the Mountaineers into a serious force in the Big 12. They have back-to-back 25-win seasons and are in position to do it for a third straight year as they head into the weekend with a 19-5 record.
