The Supreme Court has cleared the way for Texas to use a new congressional map that could help Republicans win five more U.S. House seats in the 2026 midterm election.

The Supreme Court has sided with Texas Republicans on the state's redrawn congressional map for now.

The decision by the conservative-dominated court stayed a ruling from a lower court that the redrawn maps, pushed for by President Donald Trump, had incorrectly used race to set district lines.

“I can hold this seat. I’m not quitting on California and neither should anyone else,” Issa, who represents a district anchored in San Diego County, said in a statement.
