Russia-based broadcasters and web sites such as RT, Rossiya Segodnya will no longer be available to users of Facebook and Instagram.

Meta said on Monday it was banning RT, Rossiya Segodnya and other Russian state media networks, alleging the outlets used deceptive tactics to carry out influence operations while evading detection on the social media company’s platforms.

Meta Platforms Inc, announced Monday it is banning Russia Today (RT) among other Russian state media networks from its social media platforms, due to the use of deceptive and covert tactics to spread Russian propaganda, as well as misinformation. The social media giant is the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads.
