"Summer of Soul" is one of the best movies I have seen anywhere this year, and it offers a record of the Harlem Cultural Festival that ran for a few years in the late 1960s.

"Summer of Soul" is the first official project under the Onyx Collective brand for creators of color and underrepresented creatives. It's now streaming on Hulu and is available on DVD.

As the documentary makes clear, the original Summer of Soul was about a lot more than music because 1969 was a change of era in the Black community.
