A lot of people expected Oilers star Connor McDavid to finally win the Stanley Cup, especially since both Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby lost their first Final but came back to win it the very next year.

McDavid felt the Oilers were going nowhere doing the same thing over and over again throughout the six-game Stanley Cup Final defeat. "I mean obviously their forecheck was great," McDavid said after the game.

While there will be critics of his Stanley Cup Final performance, McDavid has now strung together two exceptional postseasons for the Oilers. His 33 points were tied with teammate Leon Draisaitl for the most in the playoffs, and they were 10 more than Sam Reinhart, the next closest player.
