We're keeping tracking of the latest news and trade rumors surrounding Dylan Cease, who is a candidate to be dealt prior to the July 31 Trade Deadline.

The Boston Red Sox have many options to choose from if they want to trade outfielder Jarren Duran for a starting pitcher. Boston also has the luxury of being able to wait for the best offer rather than rushing to trade Duran before the deadline.

But, in an update from USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Padres' plans surrounding Cease got an interesting update. While the rumors only started within the last week, Nightengale revealed the Padres have been exploring trades for much longer.

The Boston Red Sox have been talked about plenty ahead of the trade deadline with nothing really to show for it yet. That isn’t surprising. The trade deadline is still over a week away and will pass on July 31st.

The Padres are listening on Dylan Cease, which inspired calls from most of the AL East — the Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays and Rays — as well as the Mets and Cubs.
