The summer transfer window is heating up, with Premier League heavyweights clashing over mutual targets and trying to nab their best players off one another. Liverpool and Newcastle United are the latest duo to butt heads, with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike waiting patiently to discover how the tussle will affect their club futures.

Liverpool are considering a shock move to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. He scored four times and added six assists in 17 appearances at Villa Park.

Liverpool have made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt over a possible move for Hugo Ekitike, who is also being targeted by Newcastle United. The Athletic reported on July 14 that Newcastle tried to secure Ekitike via an offer worth around €75million (£64.9m; $86.9m), which was turned down by Frankfurt.

Newcastle have reportedly identified a Premier League striker as an Hugo Ekitike, in a move which could stun Tottenham amid their own transfer attempts.
