A man is dead and a North Fulton SWAT officer was injured in a shootout while attempting to execute a search warrant on Friday afternoon.

Police say the suspect was being arrested for firing his gun in the air after being asked to leave a New Year's Eve party.

According to authorities, the incident occurred as the Roswell Police Department, along with a joint SWAT team, was executing a search warrant at home around noon Friday. Officers were attempting to contact the residents when a suspect, identified as Matthew Robert Taylor, 40, ran out of the back of the house and fired two shots.
