Kentucky Statewide Tornado Drill will happen at 10 a.m. EST or 9:07 a.m. CST. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — If you hear a tornado siren Friday morning, don't be alarmed; Kentucky's National Weather Service is doing its annual statewide tornado drill.

There’s an upcoming statewide tornado drill that you need to be aware of. Next Wednesday, March 5th at 9:07 A.M., the National Weather Service will be hosting a statewide tornado drill. Officials say it’s a great time to practice what you’d do during a real emergency and make sure everyone in your household is prepared.

An updated tornado watch was issued by the NWS Wakefield VA on Wednesday at 1:10 p.m. in effect until 8 p.m. The watch is for Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.

On Wednesday at 7:48 a.m. a tornado watch was issued by the NWS Blacksburg VA in effect until 1 p.m. The watch is for Caswell, Rockingham and Stokes counties.

The tornado that touched down early Monday morning in Seminole County, Florida had peak winds of 115 mph, which is comparable to the wind gusts of a Category 2 or 3 hurricane, according to the National Weather Service.

The Seminole County Fire Department said a home in Longwood collapsed after "weather impacts." Others described it as a tornado.

Preliminary data from the National Weather Service indicates the tornado was on the ground for about three minutes Wednesday morning.
