The 2025 draft marked chief baseball officer Craig Breslow’s second at the helm, and his first overseeing the full 12-month scouting cycle. The Sox spent eight of their first 10 picks on pitchers this year, and across Breslow’s two drafts, have used 29 of their 41 total selections on pitchers.

With big clubs looking to add rotation depth, it’s time for clubs to expand their search beyond elite pitchers.

A 10-game win streak has the Red Sox at 53-45 and well-positioned to make a second-half run at the postseason. This seemed like an improbable notion just a few weeks ago, but Boston is rolling and can look for improvements at the deadline. The most glaring need is starting pitching.
