Mark Zuckerberg is doubling down on more cartoon villainy this week by proposing to lay off more than 3,600 employees — or roughly five percent of Meta 's "lowest performers." Of course, in true capitalist fashion, he plans to backfill those positions later this year.

News reports say that social media company Meta Platforms is planning to cut 5% of total staff this year by terminating staff based on performance and hiring new workers to replace them.

Meta specified that it is “exiting approximately 5% of our lowest performers” in a separate message posted by a company director.
