Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese won a second term for his center-left Labor Party Saturday, defeating conservative challenger Peter Dutton in an election colored by US President Donald Trump’s trade war.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has congratulated Anthony Albanese on his reelection as Australia's prime minister. ''And I have no doubt you shall carry it forward with the same resolve and vision that you have long defined [in] your public service,'' he added.

Supporters at Labor’s election party in Sydney cheered and hugged each other as Albanese claimed victory and said his party would form a majority government.
