One person was killed and four others were injured in what MEDIC called a “very serious” east Charlotte crash involving a CATS bus New Year’s morning. The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was killed after a bus and a passenger vehicle collided, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.

Crews were on the scene of a deadly crash in east Charlotte Wednesday morning, police said. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it happened in the 5600 block of Central Avenue. MEDIC confirmed one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, officials responded to the crash on the 5600 block of Central Ave near Reddman Road.
