NEW YORK — President Donald Trump is lashing out at his own supporters, accusing them of being duped by Democrats, as he tries to clamp down on criticism over his administration’s handling of much-hyped records in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking investigation, which Trump now calls a “Hoax.”

President Donald Trump called an obsession with the Jeffrey Epstein files a "hoax" and a "scam" by political opponents to distract from his successes.

The latest Quinnipiac University poll found that 63% of voters disapprove of how Trump officials have handled Epstein’s sex trafficking case while just 17% said they approve. This comes about a week after the Justice Department released a memo that concluded Epstein kept no “client list” and that he committed suicide in his jail cell in 2019.

For years, President Donald Trump and his Republican allies benefited from conspiracy theories that fueled the conservative MAGA movement and targeted his political enemies.

Trump, members of his administration and conservative influencers have long spread unsubstantiated claims surrounding Epstein.

"It's all part of this larger conspiracy environment that Donald Trump thrives in, whether it be birtherism or it be this elite group of people who are always trying to keep information from the public.

The post comes after Trump said on Tuesday that Attorney General Pam Bondi should release “whatever she thinks is credible” on Epstein. When asked by a reporter, Bondi said that “Our memo speaks for itself, and we’ll get back to you on anything else. I haven’t seen all of his statements.”
