NYPD officers responded to an assault in progress and found that a 45-year-old man had been struck by a southbound train after being allegedly shoved onto the subway tracks.

The suspect ran away but authorities said they had a man in custody who was being questioned. A woman who died after being set on fire on a New York City subway train this month has been identified, according to police.

A person was pushed onto subway tracks in New York City Tuesday afternoon, police said. The incident happened at the 18th Street station in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood around 1:40 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The NYPD is monitoring the events that occurred on New Year’s in New Orleans where at least 10 people were killed and dozens injured after a car plowed through a crowd of revelers. The FBI said it is investigating the attack as an act of terrorism.

NYPD cops are “coordinating with federal and regional partners” probing the 3:15 a.m. attack in the city’s famed French Quarter.
