Kenya says it will send an all-female Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team to reinforce security efforts in Haiti where criminal gangs are seeking to overthrow the government of the French-speaking Caribbean Community (Caricom) country.

Kenya said Saturday it was sending another 217 police officers to Haiti to bolster a multinational force seeking to restore order to the violence-ridden Caribbean island.

Kenya police deployed to Haiti have restored order in several towns in the troubled Caribbean nation. President William Ruto said the team has intensified patrols in major cities to contain crime in general.
