An ACC coach has lofty expectations for the University of North Carolina's football team now that Bill Belichick has been hired.

The UNC Tar Heels begin a new era this fall with Bill Belichick as their coach. It’s unclear just how they’ll perform under the first-year coach, but members of the the ACC media predicted where the team will finish in its annual rankings. The 2025 ACC preseason poll doesn’t have UNC finishing top 3, but the Tar Heels are in the top 10 at No. 8.

Belichick was hired by UNC on Dec.12 to get the Tar Heels to become a contender for the ACC title year in and year out. It’s also possible that he was hired so UNC could make a move to the SEC. Regardless of the reasoning, Belichick's resume might be the best among current active coaches regardless of level.
