The fight over where the Cleveland Browns will play its home games in the future landed in court on Tuesday. Cleveland city officials, as expected, filed a lawsuit against Browns over the team’s planned move to Brook Park after the 2028 season.

Cleveland filed a lawsuit against the Browns Tuesday accusing the team of violating the "Modell Law," a statute that allows locals to attempt to buy a relocating team within a six-month period before the team's relocation. The lawsuit seeks to stop the team from attempting to build a new domed stadium in the suburb of Brook Park.

In an unsurprising move, the City of Cleveland has officially filed a lawsuit against the owners of the Cleveland Browns — the Haslam Sports Group — and the team over its proposed move to a new stadium in Brook Park.

Mayor Justin Bibb is firing a law firm that was helping Cleveland raise funds for waterfront development as well as ballpark and arena repairs — since that law firm is now representing Brook Park as it tries to attract the Cleveland Browns.
