Rescuers and residents resumed searching for survivors as the death toll from five days of torrential rain rose to almost 400, with authorities warning monsoon downpours would continue until the weekend.

KARACHI: It rained cats and dogs in Karachi on Monday, plunging the city into near civic collapse as torrential downpours left much of the metropolis flooded, electricity suspended, and communications disrupted, with authorities warning of further heavy showers until August 22.
