A NDERSON, Texas (KBTX) - As questions mount over the timing and effectiveness of flood warnings during this weekend’s deadly flash floods in Texas, one Grimes County family is sharing their harrowing experience and offering a firsthand account that confirms alerts were received by some hours before rising waters turned deadly.

A Texas father of two, Julian Ryan, is being hailed as a hero after sacrificing his life amid the Texas Hill Country floods to save his family. Reportedly, Ryan almost lost his arm to carry out his selfless sacrifice.

Amid catastrophic flooding sweeping across Texas, a young father’s final, heartbreaking words have come to define both the devastation and the heroism from the storms.

Eight-year-old Blakely McCrory, who has family ties to Brazos County, is among the dozens still missing after deadly flash flooding devastated parts of Texas over the July 4th weekend, including the Camp Mystic area where she was attending summer camp.

In Travis County, four have been confirmed dead. The other flood-related deaths occurred in Burnet and Williamson counties.
