Warner Bros. is pulling the plug on another failed multiplayer game. Its Smash Bros.-inspired platform fighter MultiVersus will shut down at the end of season 5, just a year after it’s bumpy return from live-service purgatory.

The next season of MultiVersus will be the crossover fighting game’s last. Warner Bros. Games announced Friday that development on MultiVersus is ending, and that the game will go offline on May 30, the day that the upcoming season 5 comes to a close.

MultiVersus, the free-to-play brawling game from Player First Games and WB Games, is going offline in May. The developers confirmed in a blog post on Friday that the game's upcoming fifth season will be its last, and MultiVersus' servers will be shutting down on May 30 at 9:00 a.m. PST / noon EST.

Following the rumour, developer Player First Games has confirmed that Season 5 will be the last content update for MultiVersus. Not only that, but once Season 5 concludes, the game will no longer be playable online, and will be removed from digital storefronts.
