TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Max Fried lost a no-hit bid in the eighth inning when the official scorer changed an earlier decision to a hit, and the Yankees went on to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-0 Sunday in a game that featured manager Aaron Boone's first ejection of the season.

Max Fried lost a no-hit bid Sunday when he wasn’t even on the mound. The New York Yankees lefthander was dealing a no-hitter through seven, or so it seemed. In between innings, Tampa Bay Rays’ official scorer Bill Matthews overturned his earlier decision to give the Rays a hit.

In the Yankees matchup against the Rays, Max Fried has a no-hitter going into the eighth inning, or so he thought.
