Vice President JD Vance was pressed on Sunday during an interview about when grocery prices would come down for Americans following President Trump's first week in office.

Vice President JD Vance's interview with "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan" is his first since he assumed the vice presidency.

"I think that the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops needs to actually look in the mirror a little bit," Vance said in an interview that aired on Sunday.

The vice president said the Trump administration needs some time to address a main campaign promise to bring down grocery prices.

CBS Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan grilled JD Vance on the economy as he failed to pick out an executive order that had an immediate effect on grocery prices. The vice-president appeared to struggle before Brennan as she claimed most of the executive orders made by Donald Trump this week did not relate to the economy.

The Middletown native was sworn in as the country's 50th vice president just two years after assuming his first public office as an Ohio senator.

Vice President JD Vance told CBS News that "Rome wasn't built in a day" when asked how quickly consumers might see prices fall.
