Cassell Coliseum is a 10,052-seat [4] multi-purpose arena in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States, that opened in 1962. It is home to the Virginia Tech Hokies men's and women's basketball teams, wrestling team, and volleyball team. Built as a replacement for the much smaller War Memorial Gymnasium, the Coliseum's construction began in 1961.

For more than half a century, Cassell Coliseum has provided Virginia Tech with one of the greatest home venues in all of college sports. Winning has been the norm in the facility since its opening in 1961, and Cassell is perhaps even more exciting today than ever in its history.

The 229,297-square-foot facility houses a 10,052-seat basketball arena, locker rooms, two auxiliary gymnasiums, offices, and other athletic facilities. One notable design element: The roof is supported by laminated wood arches.

For basketball and post-season events, all fans entering Cassell Coliseum regardless of age must have a valid ticket to gain admission to the arena. Once fans enter the arena, they may not exit and re-enter.

When it’s filled with 10,000 fans cheering the Hokies to victory in the last seconds of a basketball game, Cassell Coliseum is an amazing sight. But when it’s empty, the home of Virginia Tech basketball, volleyball, and wrestling shows its age.

Public parking for home basketball games will be located in the Stadium Lot and in the large fenced resident parking lot off Duck Pond Drive (the cage). Vehicles should be parked in the large section of the cage closest to the Duck Pond. Accessible parking is available in the Coliseum Lot.

The Virginia Tech Hokies men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Home games are played at Cassell Coliseum, located on Virginia Tech's campus in Blacksburg. The Hokies have made the NCAA tournament 13 times, the most recent appearance coming in 2022.

Opened in 2006, John Paul Jones Arena (nicknamed "JPJ") is the largest indoor arena in Virginia and is home of the Virginia Cavaliers men's and women's basketball teams. It has a capacity of 14,593 and also serves as a live music venue.
