After a couple of years where the CT DEEP Fisheries Division has not been able to get a delivery of channel catfish, we did today. 8,800 fish (11-18 inches) were distributed across the state to our community fishing waters (about 500 per waterbody). In this video, you'll see us using a new system of transporting fish through tubing rather than buckets. Eliminating bucket stocking and using this method was successful and had the added benefit of being able to see the fish traveling through the clear tubing into the river. Here, steelhead are being stocked for sportfish restoration in Central Vermont. These are about 7-8 inches in length and came from the Ed Weed Fish Culture Station in Grand Isle. Atlantic Salmon Stocking Update: Today Atlantic Salmon were stocked into the Naugatuck River ATS Management Area from Campville to Beacon Falls. The Fishery is Catch and Release only until 12/15 with the use of a single fly or an artificial lure with a single free swinging hook required to fish.
