8 December is the birthday of a true legend! Jim Morrison was born in 1943 in Melbourne, Florida, into a strict military family. From early childhood, fate seemed to mark him. At the age of four, while driving through the New Mexico desert, he witnessed a terrible truck accident in which Native Americans died. That scene haunted him for the rest of his life and later poured into his poetry (“Dawn’s Highway”) and songs like “Ghost Song.” With an IQ of 149, he was a rebel from the very beginning:

The Doors' songs "Newborn Awakening" and "Peace Frog" both draw from Jim’s poetry. Both tracks echo each other by channeling Morrison’s poetic reflections, though in differing musical formats and intensities. "Newborn Awakening," from the 1978 spoken word album AN AMERICAN PRAYER, represents a more introspective, expansive exploration of these motifs, while "Peace Frog," from the 1970 album MORRISON HOTEL, turns them into a sharper, rhythmic rock experience.
