Mt. Etna's latest eruption on February 21 sent plumes of ash an estimated 10 to 12 kilometers high. There were no immediate reports of injuries, but the nearby airport in Catania, Sicily, was momentarily closed due to the conditions. Lava flow from the eruption reportedly stopped by midday.
