Verdi’s Otello is a monumental masterpiece that has enormous significance in my career. On this day, September 28, 1975, I made my Otello role debut at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and have been privileged to perform the role for over 200 times. On this day, September 28, 1968, I made my debut as The Metropolitan Opera as Maurizio in Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur.
