Remembering Link Wray, born Fred Lincoln Wray, Jr. on May 2, 1929, in Dunn, North Carolina – he died on November 5, 2005. Building on distorted electric guitar sound of early electric blues records, his 1958 instrumental hit "Rumble" by Link Wray and his Ray Men invented "the power chord, the major modus operandi of modern rock guitarists", making possible "punk and heavy rock". Rolling Stone placed Wray at No. 45 of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. In 2013 he was announced as a nominee

Clifford Layton is a part of #baseball history! ⚾️ Born in Dunn, North Carolina, he spent four years playing in the Negro Leagues during a time when the sports world, like society in general, was incredibly segregated. Layton was inducted into the Negro League Legends Hall of Fame in 2003. As of December 2020, the Negro League is officially being recognized as a "major league" by MLB! | North Carolina Museum of History
